Eddy Fränkel, Director Downstream & Power of Staatsolie, holds a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management, both from the Netherlands. He was appointed statutory director on 6 May 2024 and from that day on holds the position of Director Downstream & Power. Previously, Mr. Fränkel held various other positions at Staatsolie since joining as a Mechanical Engineer in 1996. In 2019, he became Deputy Director of the Power & Renewables directorate (in 2020 the name changed to Directorate Power & Sustainable Energy). From 2018 to 2019 he was Operations Manager at the refinery and from 2016 to 2018 Director of Staatsolie Power Company Suriname N.V. (SPCS). From 2010 to 2015 Mr. Fränkel was project manager for the development of major renewable energy projects, namely the Tapajai hydropower project and the Wageningen Ethanol project. This was after he completed phase-1 and phase-2 of the construction of the 96MW SPCS thermal power plant, in the position of Operations manager for three years. Before joining Staatsolie in 1996, Mr. Fränkel was a development engineer at Stork Ketels B.V. in Hengelo, Netherlands.
