T-BOSIET training facility in Suriname

Kersten Group offers the Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (T-BOSIET). This program targets local, regional, and international participants. It is designed to provide both newcomers and experienced offshore professionals, who are required to renew their certification every four years, with essential safety and emergency procedures for offshore operations.

T-BOSIET certification is a prerequisite for meeting the initial safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry in a tropical climate, such as on drilling rigs and Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units. The objective is to familiarize trainees with specific safety issues and regulations relevant to offshore installations. Additionally, it equips them with basic knowledge and skills for helicopter-based emergency response to and from offshore facilities.

In September 2021, as part of its Local Content development initiative, Staatsolie issued a call for expressions of interest to establish the first T-BOSIET facility in Suriname. Following a selection process involving both local and international companies, Kersten Group was chosen. In June 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Kersten Group, and in January 2023, the lease and training agreements for establishing the training facility were finalized.

This development marks an important step in enhancing the skills and safety of personnel in Suriname's growing offshore industry.
