Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. will support the National Healthcare Recovery Plan with SRD 29 million. The money will be used to alleviate the acute emergency in the health sector.
Staatsolie will make the money available through the Staatsolie Foundation for Community Development. The situation in Suriname's health sector is very critical and the government is asking the business community to support the implementation of the National Healthcare Recovery Plan. Staatsolie's contribution also serves to bridge this emergency, because the company find it very important for that acute care in Suriname is insured. Staatsolie hopes that his support will motivate several companies to contribute to the implementation of the plan.
A workgroup has been set up by the Ministry of Health to implement the plan. The workgroup will submit concrete project proposals to the Staatsolie Foundation for approval. Applications for financing temporary personnel, medical equipment and consumables will be treated with priority.
Healthcare is one of Staatolie's focus areas for social investment. For example, the contribution to the fight against COVID-19 and several donation projects that have been carried out for hospitals and other health institutions in Suriname can be mentioned.
