Staatsolie donates SRD 1 million to the Blood Bank on its anniversary.

13 December 2024

PARAMARIBO – Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. celebrates its 44th anniversary today, 13 December 2024. To mark this milestone and as a token of appreciation to the Surinamese community, Staatsolie, in collaboration with the Su Aid Foundation, has donated SRD 1,000,000 to the National Blood Bank of Suriname.

The donation of SRD 1,000,000 is a contribution to the 'Gi Wan Anu' campaign of the Su Aid Foundation. With this campaign, Su Aid raises funds for the National Blood Bank of Suriname. The symbolic check was presented this morning, 13 December by Annand Jagesar, CEO of Staatsolie, to Giwani Zeggen, chairman of Su Aid, and Glenn Wijngaarde, director of the Blood Bank.

The Blood Bank plays a crucial role in the care of patients requiring blood transfusions. With this donation, Staatsolie contributes to ensuring a high-quality blood supply that meets all standards and requirements. The funds will be used to replace outdated equipment. The current equipment is not functioning optimally, and the Blood Bank will soon have to purchase expensive equipment such as new blood centrifuges, analysis equipment, blood testers, and cooling facilities. The donation from Staatsolie helps the Blood Bank on its way, says Mr. Wijngaarde, director of the Blood Bank. "This gesture is more than welcome. We have equipment that is eighteen years old and in dire need of replacement. We are very grateful to Staatsolie," he says.

Since its establishment on 13 December 1980, Staatsolie has grown into a pillar of Suriname. As an employer and a significant contributor to the state treasury through dividends and taxes, Staatsolie plays a vital role in the Surinamese economy. Moreover, through investments in social and community projects, the company contributes to the well-being of the Surinamese society. Staatsolie is entering a new era, marked by offshore discoveries and its participation in the development of the first offshore oil field, the GranMorgu field. Staatsolie will continue to strive for sustainable growth. As it celebrates its 44th anniversary, the company is launching its jubilee year with the theme "Empowering communities and institutions." Staatsolie will invest even more in social projects for the Surinamese community.
