Staatsolie invests in healthcare through the National Healthcare Recovery Plan

04 July 2024

Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., through the Staatsolie Foundation for Community Development, has made a significant contribution to improve healthcare in Suriname. In the last quarter of 2022, an agreement was signed between the National Health Recovery Plan (NHRP) and the Staatsolie Foundation, whereby Staatsolie provided a sum of US$ 1 million.

This donation aimed to address immediate needs within the medical sector. As part of this initiative, since 2023, various projects have been funded to benefit healthcare institutions across Suriname.

On 4 July 2024, three projects were inaugurated at the Diakonessenhuis. These projects, totaling an investment of over US$ 85,000 and Euro 46,000, include equipment and supplies for pediatric and oncological care. Additionally, the investment was made in an advanced and more efficient surgical operation system.

"When we heard that we would receive advanced equipment, a dream came true. This allows us to save the lives of our young Surinamese with the right equipment."

This delivery marks the successful completion of this initiative. In total, 24 projects have been implemented across various healthcare institutions. These projects include the acquisition of equipment for the pediatric cardiac surgical mission and other urgently needed equipment, various medical consumables, medications, and the establishment of the Education Center at the Academic Hospital.

Healthcare is one of Staatsolie's focal areas for social and community investments. The company remains committed to serving the Surinamese community.
