Eleven focused and enthusiastic students from the Suriname Maritime Institute (SMI) started the SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) training on Monday 10 June.
This is one of the basic safety training courses for seafarers. The seven-day training is also a requirement for being able to do an internship on two ships of Medserv, the logistics contractor of the Staatsolie Nearshore Drilling project. From 18 June the students will learn exactly what is needed in practice for six months. Watch the video below for the first step in this adventure at sea for the students.
